New Website Layout

· 2 min read

New layout of the homepage and some other changes to web pages.

New homepage layout

The homepage is simplified. Using ABB red color, a new picture, announcement bar, etc. The overview of all process areas and corresponding guides and templates is now found under the "Overview" button.

layout

Name of the author who made the latest change

The name of the person who made the latest change to a page is added to "latest updated" at the bottom of the page.

last-update-name

Scalable pictures

The pictures on the pages scale to be able to show on mobile phones, tablets, and computer screens. When possible, the pictures are also compressed and made as small as possible to improve display exchange time (about 300ms).

Improved navigation in PDF files

The links are recalculated to be able to navigate in PDF files. It now navigates to the right header even if they have the same name but in different sections.

Feedback on pages

There are two buttons at the end of a page - "Was this page helpful?." You can vote yes/no. Metrics are collected on the pages and can give the author information about the page.

Feedback

When you click on Yes/No - you also get a link to the Process Change Request (PCR) page, in case you want to report any issues found in the processes.

Learn section added to the top menu

A "Learn" section is added, and information, tutorials, and recommended training are added here.

Learn

Note: The Learn section is being built up and more information will be added over time.

Copy button on code fences

To make it easier to copy/paste information, when you use code fences in markdown (i.e., a section with backticks: ```<text>```), a copy button will show up to copy the contents between the fences.

Example:

Any text here.
Can also be code.

Note: Move the cursor over the gray area, and the copy button will show up.

Subscribe on Changed Pages

· One min read

Subscribe on new and changed pages in the process webpages using RSS (Really Simple Syndication).

A plugin (e.g., Feedbro) needs to be installed in your browser to make it work. The plugin subscribes to updates made on the pages. Unfortunately, you cannot see exactly what has changed on a page - just that it has been updated. To get the details, you need to go into ADO.

Install the RSS plugin

Install the Feedbro plugin in your browser (any RSS plugin works - but this one has been tested together with the process website).

  • Open the Edge browser
  • Select "extensions" and "manage extensions" from the menu
    menu1

Add the RSS feed to Feedbro

Add the process website RSS feed into the Feedbro plugin.

  • Click on the new Feedbro icon in the Edge browser
    menu2
  • Select "Add a new Feed" menu3
  • Enter the "Feed Url": https://abb-is-000650.nmea.abb.com/pcp2/index.xml
    menu4

Look for page changes

  • The Feedbro icon shows if there are any new changes available. Click on the icon, then "Open Read Feeder" and "All Items", to see the changed pages. menu5
