Stream Owner

The stream owner has an overall responsibility to facilitate the lean and agile execution of the stream, facilitate the stream events (increment planning, synchronization meetings), and assist the teams in delivering value.

They also escalate impediments, resolve issues, manage risks, drive relentless improvements, and communicate progress to stakeholders.

The stream owner belongs to a system stream or a development stream, and the role can be combined with the head of system or head of development.

The stream owner ensures the system stream and teams can manage all activities required for a deliverable or release. He/she collaborates with the stream’s release owner and involves other stakeholders like product management and the Program Management Office (PMO).

The stream owner facilitates the coordination of deliverables (hardware software, and firmware) from other streams, continuously integrates the deliverables into products and systems, and verifies and validates them before a release.

He/she also organizes the stream, drives the lean-agile execution model, and facilitates a lean-agile culture among the participants in the stream.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and monitor the release roadmap with the targeted system, product, and maintenance releases based on discussions with Portfolio and Product Management (PPM).
  • Ensure system epics are aligned with product management, PMO, architects, and other streams at the increment planning.
  • Facilitate the increment planning, with preparations, participating in pre and post-planning meetings, and the planning event involving the stream/team members and other key stakeholders.
  • Monitor quality KPIs and proactively collaborate with other streams to improve quality.
  • Implement improvements for processes, methods, and tools supporting lean-agile execution, with continuous system integration and testing - in collaboration with Operational Excellence (OpEx).
  • Ensure system and product documentation is created and coordinated for the releases.
  • Facilitate alignment of stakeholders and ensure necessary decisions are taken.
  • Consolidate and monitor budgets for the stream.
  • Define and drive the increment planning, synchronize and align, remove impediments, and manage risks.
  • Manage the organization of the stream and teams.
  • Continuously improve stream execution (efficiency and effectiveness).
