Quality Control Manager
The quality control manager (QCM) performs quality assurance activities on development and system streams, identifies quality issues, and ensures they are managed to closure. He/she coordinates the activities required to ensure that the quality meets customer expectations, required quality standards, and defined processes.
Description
The QCM operates on behalf of the "Head of R&D" and "Head of R&D Quality" independent of the "Head of Stream" and does not take any directives from the stream and team members.
The QCM ensures the quality management system works properly and involves people in the organization to advise on changes, how to implement them, and provide training, tools, and techniques to achieve quality standards.
The QCM plans activities to objectively evaluate performed processes and work products against applicable process descriptions, standards, and procedures.
Non-compliance issues are identified and documented, feedback is provided to agile teams and managers, and the non-compliance issues are addressed.
Responsibilities
Quality planning & goal setting
- Supports setting the quality goals for development projects and system releases.
- Ensures adherence to the quality management system (QMS) and advises teams on QMS best practices
Process compliance & audits
- Conducts objective evaluations by performing audits, reviews, and random sampling to ensure adequate quality and process compliance with the work in progress. All findings are noted and followed up to closure.
- Serves as an independent auditor, assessing quality against release criteria.
- Manages and coordinates external audits (on demand) and follow-up of external audit findings.
- Assure that mandatory processes, procedures, and standards are followed.
Quality monitoring & reporting
- Monitors product and system quality by gathering relevant data, defining, and tracking quality KPIs.
- Monitors and give advice on the performance of the quality management system, analyze KPIs, and reports on performance.
- Escalates quality issues to management at an appropriate level.
Continuous improvement & collaboration
- Supports process owners in defining, maintaining, and communicating process changes.
- Interfaces operations quality to drive improvement projects in development streams and for business quality initiatives.
- Collaborates with continuous improvement team to drive Improvement projects
