Head of <xxx>
The “Head of <xxx>” is a management role with responsibilities for a stream and/or an organization. They are part of the PCP R&D management team and are reporting to the head of R&D and technology manager.
Description
The generic role “Head of <xxx>” is instantiated to different management positions, and detailed descriptions can be found in the respective person’s job description.
The current set of “Head of <xxx>” in IAPCP R&D instances are:
- Head of Operational Excellence.
- Head of Quality.
- Head of DevOps.
- Head of Architecture.
The following roles have responsibilities for the organization and people as all the other “Heads,” but also have the responsibility of system and product lines, and their stream/product line responsibilities are described separately.
- Head of System.
- Head of Development.
Responsibilities
- Attract, recruit, and retain capable individuals vital for success.
- Define and administer compensation, benefits, and promotions (salary reviews).
- Establish a mission and purpose for individuals and teams.
- Evaluate performance and serve as a coach, advisor, and career counselor (PDA).
- Addresse issues that teams cannot unblock (escalated) and make personnel changes where necessary.
- Assist in aligning the teams to business and organizational strategies and goals.
- Coach the teams to a lean-agile development approach.
- Build partnerships with subcontractors, consultants, partners, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Exhibit, foster, and care for the efficiency of the organization and the quality of developed products, systems, and services.
- Resolve resource conflicts and provide other resources to the teams to achieve visions and roadmaps.
- Protect teams from distractions and unrelated or unnecessary work.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external policies, standards, and instructions (ABB group, ISO, Safety, etc.) that are applicable.
