How-to Perform Internal Ex Trainings
This guide describes the activities to perform explosion protection (Ex) training within the PCP organization.
It also includes additional information such as the reason and involved parties for internal Ex trainings under Details.

Ex representatives and Ex component responsibles.
Activities
Plan the training
The internal Ex training shall be carried out annually for multiple organizational functions according to 7PAA015237 Ex Internal Training schedule. This schedule is continuously updated and stored in the DMS Area for Ex Internal Training.
Invite relevant stakeholders to the different training sessions. Ensure sufficient time for the sessions according to the training material and for follow-up questions. The training can be carried out online or on-site.
Prepare the training
Adapt the training sessions and material to the respective functions and areas to be trained. If possible, include new focal points for recurring training sessions. The following items should be considered for the training material:
- Basics for explosion protection, e.g., ignition sources and protection methods.
- Ex-certified products within ABB PCP.
- Standards and requirements for the development of Ex products.
- Quality measures and processes for explosion protection.
- Issues and risks in developing, producing, and handling Ex products.
- Guide to further information in PCP OnePoint and PCP R&D Processes.
Store the adapted training material in the correct year folder in the DMS Area for Ex Internal Training.
Perform the training
Sufficient time should be planned for the training, and questions should be allowed between the individual chapters.
More extensive questions should be dealt with separately after the training. The training should be recorded with the participants' consent so absent colleagues can catch up.
Documentation
Participation in the training shall be documented after the training. Once the list of participants has been completed, store the list in the correct year folder in the DMS Area for Ex Internal Training in accordance with 7PAA014999 Minimum Retention Record.
The approval workflow can then be carried out in DMS with the Ex representative as approver.

About internal Ex trainings
The PCP organization is certified for developing and producing equipment for explosive atmospheres according to ISO / IEC 80079-34. This also requires a documented process to ensure that all persons who could impact Ex-certified product compliance are trained and competent.
